Azurite malachite is a beautiful blend of deep blue azurite and green malachite. It is a copper based gemstone which gives it its glorious colours.
It is a stone with a long history and tradition. In ancient Egypt, Azurite was used as the blue in the Eye of Horus and in ground-form to create a saturated blue pigment. In the Middle Ages malachite was thought to protect against epidemics.
This large stone (2 inches inches or 5cm from top to bottom and around 1 inch or 2 1/2 cm high) is simply set in a rustic soldered (copper wire coated with tinned silver bearing solder) setting and hangs on distressed thick leather chord, wrapped either side of the bale with the same silvered copper wire.
The stone retains a little bit of movement within it's wire cage.
The organic bale (which attaches the stone to the leather chord) is extra long and, beneath the stone, are two little charms (Ethiopian silver alloy bead and kuchi bell).
Azurite malachite is a relatively soft gemstone so take care not to drop or immerse in water. It should be stored out of sunlight. .

My work is organic, purposefully rustic and raw. My pieces take a journey with me as I create them. I use found and salvaged objects wherever possible as these tell a story and reflect my commitment to sustainability. My aesthetic celebrates the signposts - surface stitches, tool marks, texture and natural patina - that tell the story of that pieces journey with me.
When you purchase one of my pieces you are purchasing something that is one-of-a-kind, completely unique and which has taken many hours to create.
Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating.
My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.
