Raw stone and quartz crystal statement necklace | wild and primitive

$82.31

A holey found natural stone, a raw quartz (with a subtle titanium rainbow coating) set into a vintage icing nozzle and seed charm dangle from a chunky salvaged silver tone metal chain, oxidized to give it a black patina. A statement power piece.

- The stone comes from the wild pristine beaches of South East Victoria - the holes are likely made by small sea molluscs called piddocks (or more romantically angelwings) which use their shells to create burrows in rocks, to protect them from the ravages of the sea (isn't nature amazing!). The piddocks are long since gone, leaving behind their vacant homes. The raw stone is backed with tin and surrounded by a soldered copper bezel.

- I've set the quartz into a vintage icing nozzle - the rim painted with liquid silver foil - topped with an Ethiopian silver metal bead.

- The seed pod is salvaged from a wonderful African amulet necklace.

Closes at the front with a hand forged copper hook.

My work is purposefully rustic; solder joins, hammer strikes or stitches, visible on the finished piece. For me, these are beautiful because they are signposts to the journey a piece has taken with me.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wow, Australia is a long way from me. How long will it take for my item to get here?

On average, I find shipping to most places in the world takes a couple of weeks. It can, on occasion, take longer. I ship most non-domestic items with tracking so you can keep an eye on your item as it wings its way to you.

Why are some of your items free shipping and others not?

In this world of online shopping, free shipping is becoming the norm. I'm trialling offering free shipping for some of my items to see if this suits my customers' better.

How do you ship your items?

All my items are wrapped and ready for gifting. I ship most international items with tracking (some smaller items like earrings, may not have tracking as it makes them unreasonably expensive). Domestic items are generally posted Express so you can get them quickly.

Can I return my purchase for a refund?

Of course. What's the point of jewelry you aren't going to wear! Shopping online is convenient, but sometimes you need to see a thing up-close and and in-person to know how you really feel about it. If you'd like to return your item, just let me know within 14 days of delivery.

What's your aesthetic and your pricing philsophy?

My work is organic and purposefully rustic. My pieces take a journey with me as I create them and this aesthetic celebrates the signposts that mark this journey - surface stitches, tool marks, texture and patina are beautiful.

I use found and salvaged objects a lot in my work. These tell a story and reflect my commitment to sustainability.

Pricing is one of the hardest things for an artist. I try to keep my prices accessible, whilst reflecting the time and materials that have gone into creating my pieces.

Custom and personalized orders

My process is very organic and personal so, the short answer is no, I don't generally take custom orders. However, please feel free to reach out to me if you have something in mind. I've worked with several of my regular customers to create a piece that uses a material or object that holds a special meaning for them.
