My go-to inspiration on amulets is Sheila Paine's book. I am always drawn to the the simple ones - created from everyday finds which are gathered together into a meaningful symbolic object that the owner would never dream of being without.
In this amulet necklace a Hmong textile 'cushion' - a little bit worn and distressed signifying many miles travelled - is simply adorned with cowrie shell and beads. The 20 inch (51cm) chord is black leather and closes with a hand made black iron hook.
